Privacy policy for the AMR STM Android app
Effective date: 2026-10-14
American Mine Research (“AMR”, “we”) publishes the AMR STM Android application (“the app”). This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.
The app connects over Bluetooth Low Energy to AMR STM-118 Smart Transformer Monitor hardware to display readings and change device settings. It is a tool for installers and maintenance staff.
Diagnostics and crash reports. The app uses Google Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Performance Monitoring and Firebase Analytics. These services collect crash logs, performance traces, app version, device model, operating system version, a per-install identifier generated by Firebase, and anonymised usage events (for example which screens are opened). This data is used only to find and fix defects and to understand how the app performs. It is transmitted to Google and processed under Google’s terms. See https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Device identifier. The app attaches the Android ID to crash reports so that repeated crashes from the same installation can be grouped. It is not used for advertising or shared with anyone other than Google Firebase as part of the crash report.
Bluetooth device list. The app stores, on the phone only, the names and Bluetooth addresses of STM-118 units you have connected to, so they can be shown under “Past Devices”. This list never leaves the phone.
Exported data. When you export a graph, the app writes a CSV file and hands it to the Android share sheet. Where that file goes is entirely your choice.
Crash and analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google’s retention settings (crash data up to 90 days, analytics up to 14 months) and is then deleted. Uninstalling the app removes the stored device list. To request deletion of diagnostics tied to your installation, contact us at the email address below with your device model and approximate install date.
The app is not directed at children and is intended for professional use.
We may update this policy; the effective date above will change when we do.
